F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Broomfield creates opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through programs that promote independence, accessibility, and inclusion, serving not just Broomfield but communities across the surrounding region in Colorado. For Conexus Insurance Partners, supporting that mission was a natural fit.
“F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Broomfield promotes values that reflect our People First philosophy, where dignity is a starting point, not an afterthought. Their person-centered approach empowers individuals and creates long-term stability for families in our community and, something we strive to do as an independent insurance agency,” says Sara Hoffman, Principal at Conexus Insurance Partners.
Nine Conexus team members recently joined a F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Day Program martial arts and life-skills class, training alongside participants and sharing laughs, high-fives, and genuine connection. Conexus donated food and attended F.R.I.E.N.D.S.’ annual Friendsgiving and the agency’s “Pie It Forward” campaign matched donations up to $1,000 while also rallying recurring monthly gifts. The campaign name took on a life of its own when a delighted F.R.I.E.N.D.S. participant showed up to the Conexus holiday party and delivered three whipped cream pies directly to agency leadership team’s faces; it was the kind of moment that reminds everyone why this work matters.
A $10,000 Make More Happen Award would help fuel the mission of F.R.I.E.N.D.S., keeping our transportation fleet running so more than 180 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can receive on-the-job support to be successful in the workplace, access community programs, pursue their hobbies and interests, and build meaningful relationships. Reliable transportation is the key that unlocks opportunity, independence, and connection. Funding would also support the Independent Living Academy, where Friends develop life skills like financial management, personal safety, and homemaking as they prepare for more independent living.
Vote for Conexus Insurance Partners and F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Broomfield to ensure adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have the access, skills, and community they deserve.
