The Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut is at the forefront of social service development in southeastern Connecticut. They provide mental health, medical and supportive services in accessible ways to meet the evolving needs of their community.

Bouvier Insurance became a sponsor of the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut (CFA) in 2019, after a member of the Bouvier team introduced them to the organization. As a standing member of their Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser, Vice President of Sales, Eastern Region Mark Spinnato thoughtfully suggested that the agency work alongside the nonprofit. Wowed by CFA’s contributions to the community, the partners of Bouvier Insurance knew it was a good idea to get involved.

Volunteering for fundraising events

Spinnato enlisted several colleagues in a new endeavor for the CFA, and they became members of the committee that organized the inaugural annual 5K walk/run to support mental health throughout the region.

“Assuring community health support is one of the utmost important daily missions for the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut.”

—Kate Careb, senior director of advancement at the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut

The event was brought to the attention of Bouvier Insurance’s Charitable Outreach division, known as the Bouvier Brigade. Volunteers from the agency helped with nearly every facet of the event and several of them walked or ran themselves as part of the fundraiser. “We understood the need for supportive mental health services to be readily available in our community and immediately knew their mission was one we aspired to support,” said Bouvier Brigade Chair Melissa Yuchniuk.

“Seeing the community come together in such a huge way will always be a memorable experience for Bouvier Insurance,” said Spinnato. “Knowing that we helped this event come to fruition for a nonprofit that we are truly invested in was a huge success.”

Continuing support through the year

In 2023, Bouvier Insurance went on to sponsor and volunteer for several more events. In August, the Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, Connecticut hosted “Brews & Barrels: Local Sips for Mental Health Awareness.” Bouvier volunteers were once again involved, supplying and overseeing yard games for the guests to play while they enjoyed beer and wine tasting, live music and local fare. Proceeds benefited the CFA’s Pawcatuck Outpatient Clinic.

Bouvier Insurance also helped with the CFA’s annual “Touch a Truck” event in September 2023. At these events, children are encouraged to learn about vehicles of all types, such as ambulances, buses and fire trucks. The Bouvier Brigade hosted yard games and provided build-your-own craft kits, stickers, bubbles and more for the children in attendance.

Expanding the reach of the nonprofit

Bouvier Insurance’s support of the CFA will continue. They are committed to providing donations, sponsorships and volunteers for the nonprofit, in order to help the organization achieve their mission.

The CFA continues to plan fundraiser events – such as this year’s “Touch a Truck” event, which will include a Walt Disney World Drawing – to help people in their community that need the most assistance, especially in terms of mental health services. They are currently aiming to offer hundreds more outpatient mental health sessions to those under 18 who are uninsured or underinsured and are unable to receive those necessary services otherwise.

“Assuring community health support is one of the utmost important daily missions for the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut,” said Kate Careb, senior director of advancement.
