It takes a village to help children feel safe and loved

Coeur d’Alene Insurance believes it takes a village to support the most vulnerable in their community, which drives their partnership with Canopy Village.

This trauma-responsive safe haven restores trust and hope for children and families facing abuse, neglect, or crisis, creating a compassionate community where every child feels safe, secure, and nurtured in a loving environment.

“We understand the challenge of rebuilding after a crisis and how much it helps to have hands-on support,” says Aaron Reed, office manager, Coeur d’Alene Insurance. “By showing up to get their play space back up and running, or providing essentials throughout the year, we aspire to be a dependable partner for Canopy Village, the young people they serve, and our greater community.”

The agency regularly organizes drives for household supplies, canned food, and clothing, including back-to-back Christmas drives focused on providing for teens’ specific needs. When Canopy Village suffered a basement flood due to frozen pipes in 2024, Coeur d’Alene Insurance stepped in to help clean, organize, and restore the children’s play and arts space—rebuilding shelves and sorting toys so kids could once again enjoy a safe and joyful environment.

With a $10,000 Make More Happen Award, Canopy Village can offer new and improved summer programming to engage at-risk youth. The award would improve entrance accessibility to its 30 vegetable gardens and greenhouse, where youth can take part in a community garden club. Additionally, funds would support a summer camp mentoring program, providing emotional regulation groups, communication skills, and healthy relationship lessons through their Family Support Center.
