J. Morey Co., Ori-gen Recognized with Make More Happen Award
Liberty Mutual Insurance has officially presented The J. Morey Company, in conjunction with its parent company Origen, a 2026 Make More Happen Award for its partnership with the Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF), an organization dedicated to helping Asian and Pacific Islander communities overcome and prevent domestic violence and sexual assault.
The donation will support CPAF’s Road Home initiative, providing housing navigation, culturally responsive advocacy, and up to six months of flexible financial assistance to help survivors with limited English proficiency access and maintain stable housing.
Initially, The J. Morey Company received a $5,000 donation through the Liberty Mutual 2026 Make More Happen Awards program for its partnership with CPAF. After the story was featured on the official Make More Happen microsite (www.agentgiving.com/j-morey-company), the community rallied with over 750 votes and comments — triggering a matching donation and bringing the total to $10,000.
The J. Morey Company is committed to supporting communities and helping legacy businesses across California through tailored insurance solutions and guidance. That same commitment to resilience extends to their partnership with CPAF, which works to break down language, cultural, and institutional barriers for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
For more than 15 years, The J. Morey Company has supported CPAF not only by providing essential insurance services, but also by championing its mission to uplift historically underserved communities.
“We believe businesses have a responsibility to protect and empower vulnerable communities,” says Sara Hutter, Origen’s community relations director. “Working with CPAF lets us turn that belief into action — providing resources, education, and a pathway to safety.”
The J. Morey Company sustains its partnership with CPAF through consistent, hands-on support. The agency contributes an annual $5,000 Sustainer Sponsorship to CPAF’s benefit to end violence, offers pro-bono educational sessions for staff, and regularly volunteers staff time.
Most recently, The J. Morey Company and Origen employees donated more than 2,000 essential items and assembled 77 backpacks for CPAF’s Back-to-School Drive, helping bring joy to children while easing financial burdens for mothers staying in the only emergency shelter in Los Angeles County specialized for serving Asian and Pacific Islander survivors.
For the J. Morey Company team, the partnership is about more than support — it’s about creating lasting pathways to safety, stability, and independence for survivors and their families.
“Recognizing independent agents’ dedication to their communities and nonprofit partners is what the Make More Happen Awards are all about,” said Kelly Labrado, senior territory manager, Liberty Mutual Insurance. “The J. Morey Company’s long-standing partnership with CPAF demonstrates the meaningful impact businesses can have in supporting survivors and strengthening communities.”
Throughout 2026, Liberty Mutual Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies nationwide for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $360,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies become eligible for the award by submitting applications that highlight their commitment to a specific cause.
The J. Morey Company was founded by John, Jack and James Morey in 1980 with its first office in Cerritos. For more information, visit www.jmoreyins.com.
