When Park Valley Young Agency first heard Braxton Battaglia’s inspiring story, they knew they wanted to get involved. The Battaglias were longtime customers of the agency whose daughter Braxton was diagnosed with leukemia in 2019. Brax saw firsthand the challenges that patients and their families face—juggling work, treatments, and the emotional toll of illness. At her request, her family founded the TB1 Fund, dedicated to providing “day brighteners”— family-friendly amenities and events that offer relief, joy, and support during difficult treatment visits at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.
Since 2019, Park Valley Young Agency has proudly been a Bronze-level corporate sponsor of TB1 Fund, contributing thousands of dollars annually. Beyond financial support, agency owners, staff, and customers volunteer at TB1’s signature summer fundraiser, the “Putt for Patients” miniature golf outing. The agency also purchases tickets and sends families to special events like the annual local Kentucky Derby party, helping raise funds and create unforgettable moments for children and their loved ones.
“At our most recent “Putt for Patients” event, I was moved by a young girl who was enjoying the beautiful summer day—backpack attached, providing necessary drug treatments, while smiling and carefree,” says Mike Docter, Park Valley Young Agency. “Our agency aims to bring peace of mind to our customers, which is why we work so hard to bring that same feeling to TB1 Fund families.”
A $10,000 Make More Happen Award would enable TB1 Fund to expand family amenities at University of Minnesota and Children’s Hospitals, providing more no-cost gatherings and events that bring joy and respite to patients and families.
