A chance meeting at an adoption event in Jacksonville, FL was all it took for Shapiro Insurance Group agent, Andy Ross (pictured in the blue dress), to fall in love with S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue’s mission.

Located in St. Augustine, FL, S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue began with the goal of saving adoptable dogs and cats from euthanasia in N.E. Florida. Being a pet lover and rescuer herself, Andy started volunteering with S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue walking the dogs at adoption events and at their Treasure Beach, FL facility. She’s now been volunteering with the organization for three years.

Sharon Keech, of S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue (pictured on the left) is seen here with a very sweet rescue named Mae who was found as a stray tied to a tree. S.A.F.E. was called to help and they did not think twice. Mae has become a staff and volunteer favorite and she sure is enjoying her cheeseburger Andy brought her while having her picture taken in hopes of finding a family to call her own.
