2022 Agent Giving review

Onboarding Toolkit 6

It was another busy year celebrating independent agents making positive change in their communities!

Big “I” community engagement survey

Beyond recognizing agents and making donations, we took a closer look at how and why the IA channel is so dedicated to giving back. In partnership with the Big “I,” for the first time we surveyed agents and presented new research insights on charitable giving in the independent agent channel. Our findings included:

IA Community Giving Report 16

IA Community Giving Report 19

IA Community Giving Report 18

We also learned about the types of charities you support and the variety of ways you help them. We were most excited to learn that you’re not letting up, with 65% of respondents saying they intend to volunteer the same amount of time in the coming year and 29% saying they plan to volunteer more.

We share a belief with Liberty and Safeco that trust is our most valuable currency in the insurance industry. And that you can’t simply ask for your community’s trust; you have to earn it. We’re humbled by how independent agents show time and again that their communities can trust them to pitch in where it’s needed most.

Community Giving Guide

To help their communities grow back from the pandemic, agents continued to show up for nonprofits in innovative ways. That included increasingly important digital marketing tactics to show what causes your agency supports and build awareness for a bigger impact.

That’s why we updated the IA Community Giving Guide with tips and unique agent stories about real agency giving practices. The two agencies featured below and throughout the guide were highlighted for their Make More Happen stories but also to share how their experiences giving back over the years helped shape their distinctly different strategies. If you’re just starting out, or want to do more, this is a resource to serve all agencies.

McClain Insurance has been giving back to Cocoon House and other local nonprofits in the Everett, WA area for over a decade. In the guide they share about how they got started and how they approach giving back with a focus on clients, co-workers and community.
Howard Hanna founded the Howard Hanna Children's Free Care Fund many years ago, and agent Danielle Shearer and her team of agents and CSRs also give back to children in need through Ronald McDonald House Charities. Whenever they need a helping hand, RMHC can count on Danielle.
