Professional Insurance Programs (PIP) has stood behind the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation for decades, rooted in a simple conviction: quality oral health care is a right, not a privilege, regardless of a person’s economic situation.
The WDA Foundation works to improve oral health and overall well-being for Wisconsin residents while supporting the dental community and paving the way for tomorrow’s dental professionals. PIP’s support runs deep. Each year the agency donates a $2,500 dividend from shares set aside in 1989 specifically to fund the Foundation’s charitable work. Agency staff also volunteer at Mission of Mercy (MOM) events two-day temporary dental clinics held across Wisconsin that have provided free oral health treatment to low-income residents since 2009. PIP has had staff at all 11 MOM events since the program began.
Their most memorable contribution came in 2024, when a $10,000 seed gift from PIP helped launch the Foundation’s Inaugural Mission Member Annual Support Campaign. The campaign had a goal of $70,000 and ended up raising $80,000, with PIP’s gift accounting for 12.5% of that total.
“We know that a healthy smile can change the course of someone’s life. By combining financial support with volunteer time, our team helps remove barriers so Wisconsin families can get the care they need,” says Sam Steinmetz, President of Professional Insurance Programs.
A $10,000 Make More Happen Award will go directly back into the community to bring essential dental care to Wisconsin neighbors in need. $5,000 covers supplies and treatments for 20 patients at a MOM event, and another $5,000 provides toothbrushes and toothpaste to 5,760 low-income Wisconsin residents.
