When Rachel Albin, principal of Springfield, MO-based independent insurance agency Akos Solutions, was diagnosed with breast cancer, she wasn’t sure where to turn. The Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks (BCFO) stepped up to bring peace of mind to Rachel, her family, and her business. The foundation provides those facing breast cancer with support networks, mentoring programs, community services and a full range of resources regarding breast cancer awareness, diagnosis and treatment.
“When I was diagnosed, BCFO showed up for my family with compassion, resources, and a sense of hope we desperately needed,” said Albin. “Their kindness carried us through, and now we’re committed to helping ensure others have the same lifeline.
Akos Solutions supports BCFO through fundraising and hands-on volunteering: hosting an open house with an auction that donated all proceeds to BCFO, staffing events, and running booths at local shows to spread awareness. Recently, Albin staffed a local event and proudly helped 16 women sign up for mammograms. Supporting BCFO is more than a partnership for the team at Akos Solutions—it’s a commitment to giving back, lifting up families affected by breast cancer, and helping ensure BCFO’s message of hope reaches as many people as possible, like it did for Albin.
BCFO’s services include non-medical financial assistance, wigs, free screening mammogram vouchers, a Children’s Fund, gas cards for treatment travel, lymphedema garments, a support group, and mentoring for those navigating diagnosis and treatment. A $10,000 Make More Happen Award would empower BCFO to expand outreach, fund more free mammogram screenings, and deepen their partnerships with local businesses like Akos Solutions.
