Comegys Insurance team members lead with their values, offering their clients and community members guidance and empowerment. These values are on full display through their support of Men in the Making. The St Petersburg nonprofit empowers young men ages 8 to 18 across Pinellas County, Florida through role modeling and life skills training to ensure their success from childhood to college.

Men in the Making offers learning and exposure opportunities that emphasize academic achievement, social responsibility, emotional resilience, and cultural awareness, with skill-building around public speaking, problem solving, community service, and more. Adult mentors – fathers, law enforcement officers, pastors, coaches, and business leaders – lead by example to strengthen communities, foster positive change, and break the cycle of educational failure and incarceration.

“Investing in young men through mentorship and leadership development creates lasting, positive change—both for individuals and the communities they serve. By supporting Men in the Making, we are helping to provide opportunities, life skills, and role models that foster personal and professional growth, ensuring a brighter future for the next generation,” says Derek Berset, agency principal, Comegys Insurance Agency.

Comegys Insurance is committed to Men in the Making year-round. Two team members volunteer monthly as mentors, offering guidance on career and life skills. The agency sponsors the nonprofit’s annual leadership summit and scholarship programs. Each summer, the Comegys team organizes a back-to-school supply drive, and every December, they participate in a holiday gift drive.

They also host an annual career workshop to equip participants with financial literacy and professional development skills. One memorable experience occurred during a career workshop where a participant, initially uncertain about his future, found inspiration and direction from Comegys mentors. With newfound insights into entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and the importance of networking, he secured an internship through the connections made that day.

Seeing his confidence grow and knowing Comegys mentors’ guidance helped influence his path reinforced why the agency supports this incredible program. With $10,000 from Make More Happen, Men in the Making can enhance the program’s curriculum and support crucial mentorship sessions, leadership training, and exposure outings. This investment will empower the next generation, helping them build brighter futures. Vote for Comegys Insurance Agency and help make a lasting difference in the lives of young men in our community!
